Why does my aloe vera smell like onion?

I Googled it and many people are suggesting it's due to rot, but the smell isn't that "bad"- it just smells like regular onion/garlic. The gel was clear and normal aloe consistency. The plant is healthy and is sprouting up new little leaves from the middle.
