Why do we recite the national anthem?
Keeping this in view, what is the point of a national anthem?
The national anthem, like other national symbols of a country, represents the tradition, history, and beliefs of a nation and its people. Hence, it helps evoke feelings of patriotism among the country's citizens and reminds them of their nation's glory, beauty, and rich heritage.
Similarly, why should we keep the Australian national anthem? Anthem should reflect the nation we've become "And change just as it did in 1984, to better reflect Australia's national identity — we think the anthem should reflect the nation we have become."
In this regard, why do we put our hand over your heart for the national anthem?
Men and women were instructed to stand with their hands over their hearts, men removing their hats, irrespective of whether or not the flag was displayed and those in uniform saluting. The law was amended in 2008, and since allows military veterans to salute out of uniform, as well.
Should we stand during national anthem?
Any person who is truly American would say, “Yes, they should be honoured and respected”. This is why people should stand for the National Anthem because when you stand for the National Anthem, you are honouring and respecting the sacrifices, and the work, of countless individual Americans.
