How do you remove chrome from brass taps?
In respect to this, how do you remove old chrome plating?
One of the simplest ways to remove chrome plating is to spray it with a commercial-grade oven cleaner. To do so, completely cover the chrome part with the cleaner and let it soak for 10 minutes. Then, wipe off the chrome and the cleaner and you're done.
Subsequently, question is, can you brass plate over chrome? Other brass and copper alloys depending on content and hardness may require a strike of copper or Ni. Generally you can hard chrome straight onto bronze, Aluminum nickel bronze the same as brass but the cleaning and prep steps are critical.
