Can you use transition cement on PVC?
In this regard, can you use transition cement on PVC to PVC?
Transition cement is not legal to use in most states. Use a PVC Primer and PVC Glue. Primer pre softens the plastic and glue finishes the job. You are trying to solvent weld a plastic joint.
Beside above, can I use black ABS cement on PVC? It's possible to join ABS to PVC, but it's only supposed to be done with a mechanical coupling, not glued. Today, there are two commonly used plastics for drain, waste, and vent pipes inside of homes; ABS (black) and PVC (white, mostly).
In this way, can you use regular PVC cement on conduit?
The "glue" used to join rigid PVC conduit and fittings is officially called PVC solvent cement. It comes in a small metal can with a twist-off cap, and is the same material used to join PVC plastic plumbing pipes and fittings. Avoid these, and buy one that is intended for use with PVC pipe only.
Do you let PVC primer dry before cement?
No - PVC Primer does not need to 'dry' before use - in fact, it needs to be wet to do it's job and not impede the cement - remember, plumbers in a hurry use this daily and aren't sitting around waiting for the primer to dry before grabbing the cement.
