Can you keep quail outside?
Thereof, can quails be kept outside?
The quail likes warm weather conditions and they're (the majority) migratory birds in the wild. In the summer is best to keep the quail outside but again, the they must have access to a dry, drought free place and shade.
Secondly, can you let Quail free range? As you can see, there are a lot of things to worry about when it comes to free-ranging quail, but that's not to say it can't be done. Quail are smart, and if you do your part by providing everything they need to survive in a free-range environment, they should do just fine.
Thereof, when can Quail go outside?
Between 3-5 weeks of age, the temperature should be 85 °F (29.4 °C). The chicks will not need an outside heat source after they are 5 weeks old. The chicks should have enough room to maneuver closer or farther away from the heat lamp to make themselves comfortably warm.
How cold can Quail tolerate?
Quail, like chickens, are extremely hardy and don't need heat lamps during the winter. Last year, our temps got down as low as 12 degrees, and I wrote a whole blog post on keeping chickens happy and healthy through the winter, including links to people keeping them in far colder climes than mine.
