Are broccoli and kale the same plant?
Keeping this in consideration, is broccoli and kai lan from the same plant?
As a group of Brassica oleracea Kai-lan is of the same species of plant as broccoli and kale. Its flavor is very similar to that of broccoli, though not identical, being a bit sweeter. Kai-lan is eaten widely in Chinese cuisine, and especially in Cantonese cuisine.
Beside above, is broccoli naturally grown? While there are many edible plants that can be foraged from the wild (mushrooms, asparagus and onions among many others), broccoli isn't one of them. Broccoli is a human invention. It was bred out of the wild cabbage plant, Brassica oleracea . Wild cabbage has small flower buds and is a biennial.
Similarly, are cauliflower and broccoli the same species?
Both broccoli and cauliflower belong to the family Brassicaceae, which also includes cabbage and Brussels sprouts. However, broccoli is a member of the Italica cultivar group, while cauliflower is part of the Botrytis cultivar group. These are obviously two very different cultivar groups.
What plant does kale come from?
l/) or leaf cabbage is one of certain cultivars of cabbage (Brassica oleracea) grown for their edible leaves, although some are used as ornamentals. Kale plants have green or purple leaves, and the central leaves do not form a head (as with headed cabbage).
